Air & Space Public beta

Air & Space · coming soon

The air we breathe and the sky above it, on one map.

Air & Space is a monitoring tool we are building for the atmosphere and near-Earth space: air pollution, active satellites and space debris from public orbit catalogs, and meteors and fireballs. The name is a working title.

What it will do

From ground-level air to low Earth orbit.

What Air & Space is being built to show. These are planned features; none is live yet.

Atmosphere

Large-scale weather and atmospheric conditions as context for everything else.

Planned

Air pollution

Pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, ozone and fine particles, from satellites and ground monitors.

Planned

Active satellites

Where satellites are and when they pass over you, from public orbit catalogs.

Planned

Space debris

Tracked debris objects on their orbits, from the same public catalogs.

Planned

Meteors and fireballs

Reported fireballs and bright meteors, on a map and a timeline.

Planned

How it works

From a satellite reading to something you can see, in plain language.

The plan, step by step. Air & Space is planned to use free, public data (see the footer for the sources).

  1. Measure the air

Satellites such as Sentinel-5P measure gases in the atmosphere from orbit; ground stations measure the air at street level.

  2. Model the gaps

Public atmospheric models (such as Copernicus CAMS) fill in where there are no measurements and look a few days ahead.

  3. Track what is in orbit

Public orbit catalogs (such as CelesTrak) list satellites and debris with their orbits; standard orbit maths turns those into positions and passes.

  4. Collect sky reports

Public fireball and meteor reports (such as NASA CNEOS and the American Meteor Society) are placed on the map with their time.

Air & Space is not a health alert service or a collision warning service. For air-quality health advice, follow your local authority; for spaceflight safety, the official space surveillance services.

Why it matters · who it's for

What is above us affects what happens down here.

Air pollution is invisible from the ground, and the number of objects in orbit keeps growing. Putting public data from both on one simple map makes them easy to follow.

Residents and visitors

Check the air around you, and see what is passing overhead tonight.

Students and teachers

Explore the atmosphere and orbits with real public data.

Researchers and journalists

See air pollution, satellites and sky events in one place, with sources.

Sky watchers

Satellite passes and fireball reports on a map.
